Smog Check at G & S Automotive

During a smog check, our team will test your vehicle’s exhaust system to ensure it is not emitting too many pollutants or too much smog into the environment. Equipped with special tools designed for emissions testing, we will measure the amount of emissions your vehicle produces.

Different vehicles require different inspections, depending on the age of the vehicle. Some of these inspections include:

• OBDII Test is for vehicles made after 1996, and also light-duty trucks.
• Idle Tailpipe Test for passenger vehicles and light-duty trucks made between 1977 and 1995 and also heavy-duty trucks that weight up to 14,000 that were made between 1977 and 2007. Additionally, this applies to heavy-duty vehicles that weigh between 14,000 and 26,000, and made in 1977 or later.
• Gas Cap Test are for passenger vehicles and light trucks that are aged between 1977 and 1995. This test is also performed for heavy-duty vehicles that weight up to 14,000 and are aged between 1977 and 2007, or heavy-duty vehicles that weigh between 14,000 and 26,000 with the model being made in 1977 or later.
• Visual Catalytic Converter Inspection are visual smog inspections that are performed on every vehicle regardless of model, make or year.
